    What's the role?

In the role of a Data Scientist, you will collaborate with our Data Engineers on advanced statistical modelling. Hilti
has a tremendous wealth of external and internal data. We are using it to bring our customer relationship to another
level as well as to develop advanced tools and services based on tool data. The
Data Science team is highly technical and at the same time at the core of Hilti’s digital business.

    Who is Hilti?

If you’re new to the industry, you might not have heard of us. We provide leading-edge tools, technologies, software,
and services for the global construction industry, and beyond. At Hilti strong customer relationships create solutions
that build a better future, where there is pride and a sense of belonging across our 120 global locations. It’s where
people explore possibilities, leverage their potential, own their personal development, and grow lasting careers.
The Global IT teams, operating from our technology hubs in Switzerland, Malaysia, and the USA, work closely together
by translating the latest IT innovations into sustainable, value-creating solutions & services for our customers.

    What does the role involve?

As a Data Scientist you lead discovery processes to identify the business requirements and business opportunities. To
do so, you design experiments, test hypotheses, and you develop and program models. You work in agile, iterative
processes, conduct advanced data analysis, and implement highly complex statistical algorithms. In close cooperation
with our experienced business analysts you model and frame business scenarios that are meaningful and which affect
    critical decisions and business processes.
You identify what data is available and relevant, including internal and external data sources, structured and
unstructured data, leveraging new data collection processes such as smart meters and connected tool information or
social media. You collaborate with global subject matter experts to select the relevant sources of information. You
make strategic recommendations on data collection, integration, and retention requirements incorporating business
requirements and knowledge of best practices. The development of usage and access control policies and related systems
are organized in close alignment with the data steward. Together you drive the continuous improvement processes that
are impacting data quality in the context of specific use cases. You present and depict the rationale of your findings
in easy-to-understand terms for the business stakeholders and, if applicable, you present back results that contradict
common belief to subject matter experts and organizational leadership. You instruct the organization both from IT and
    the business
perspectives on new approaches, such as testing hypotheses and statistical validation of results. Based on this, you
help the organization to understand the principles and the mathematics behind the process to drive organizational
buy-in. You provide on-going tracking and monitoring of performance of decision systems and statistical model and
you lead the design and deployment of enhancements and fixes to systems as needed.

CAREER - We want your thirst to learn, courage to challenge and desire to improve things, including yourself.

    What do we offer?

We give you the autonomy to identify the right technology solutions for our customers. We also encourage you to grow,
not only in this role, but also beyond - you will be able to move around the business, to experience various job
functions and even work abroad in different markets.

the ways we do that. Additionally, Hilti e-bikes are readily available for you to use free of charge!

    What you need is:

    - You bring 3 or more years of relevant quantitative and qualitative research and analytics experience
    - You have deep knowledge of statistical techniques and experience using machine learning algorithms
    - Experience with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS), strong programming skills in R, Python and Java are a given
    - Your strong data engineering skills in SQL support you to partner up most efficiently with our data engineers
    - You bring basic skills in software engineering (software architecture, version control systems, continuous
    integration software)
    - Proficiency in statistical analysis, quantitative analytics, forecasting/predictive analytics, multivariate testing,
and optimization algorithms will underline your expertise
    - You have the ability to come up with solutions to loosely defined business problems by leveraging pattern detection
    over potentially large datasets
    - Your strong communication and interpersonal skills support you in achieving your professional and personal goals

    Why should you apply?

For this position, we are seeking creative and open-minded people with a demonstrated ability to work both
independently and in a global team setting. If you possess extraordinary analytical skills, when you have strong
