Group Procurement Category Manager (w/m)
Your responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive global category strategies in alignment with business needs and long-term
objectives.
- Lead the negotiation and management of global contracts and pricing agreements to secure competitive advantages and
sustainable supplier relationships.
- Conduct in-depth procurement market analyses to identify new suppliers, cost-saving opportunities, and global
synergies.
- Collaborate with local procurement teams and engineering to co-create and align category strategies, ensuring
consistency and local adaptability.
- Manage and develop strategic supplier relationships on a global scale, fostering innovation, performance, and
continuous improvement.
- Identify and leverage synergies across production sites and business units to optimize sourcing strategies and
procurement efficiency.
- Serve as the central escalation point for critical supply issues (e.g., obsolescence), providing structured,
best-practice-based solutions.
- Ensure effective alignment between global procurement strategy and local execution, acting as a key interface,
change agent and hands-on support if needed.
- Drive compliance with internal policies and external regulations, including ESG standards and the Code of Conduct,
while proactively managing supply chain risks within assigned categories.
Your profile
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related
discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Strategic Procurement, Category Management, or Global Sourcing within an
international industrial manufacturing environment.
- Proven track record in developing and implementing global category strategies that deliver sustainable cost savings,
supplier performance improvements, and risk mitigation.
- Strong sourcing experience in direct material categories such as sheet metal parts, CNC-machined components,
mechanical assemblies, electromechanical parts, or comparable manufacturing commodities.
- Experience in supplier selection, supplier development, global sourcing projects, and international supplier
negotiations.
- Experience in industrial transfer projects, including relocation of machines, assemblies, modules, or production
lines between suppliers and manufacturing sites.
- Solid understanding of supply planning, forecasting, inventory management, and S&OP processes.
- Strong analytical and commercial mindset with the ability to identify cost-saving opportunities through TCO
evaluations, cost analyses, and value engineering initiatives.
- Excellent project and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence
decisions across Procurement, Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain.
- Proven ability to manage supplier escalations, supply risks, obsolescence challenges, and business continuity
initiatives in a structured and solution-oriented manner.
- Strong negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship management skills.
- Entrepreneurial, proactive, and results-driven personality with a hands-on approach and a continuous improvement
mindset.
- Strong communication, intercultural, and collaboration skills combined with a high level of resilience and
self-management in a dynamic global environment.
- Sound understanding of ESG requirements, responsible sourcing principles, and supply chain compliance frameworks.
- Proficient in SAP S/4HANA, Microsoft Office, and Power BI or comparable data analytics tools.
- Fluent in English (C1 or higher); additional languages such as German are considered an advantage.
- Willingness to travel internationally (approximately 20–30%).
