Together with our customers, we combine the real and digital worlds
With technology, software and services for smart buildings, we transform the everyday for everyone. By combining the
real and digital worlds, we empower our customers to reach their decarbonization goals, lower their operating costs and
create world-class occupant experiences for their people. It's not just about improving buildings – it's about creating
efficient, safe, adaptable and sustainable environments, which improve the way the world lives and works.
The digital transformation of buildings is a fast-changing, dynamic sector, and it needs more than just great
technology - it needs great people, too. We know a business only thrives if its people are thriving, so at Siemens we
put our people first.
We are looking for a motivated and experienced colleague as Global Specification & Prescription Lead. In this newly
created role, you will build and lead the prescription strategy for SI Building globally, ensuring that Siemens
solutions are embedded in technical specifications at the earliest stages of the project lifecycle. Working globally
and coordinating resources across multiple internal departments, you will be the key interface between our solution
portfolio and the architectural and engineering community that shapes tomorrow's buildings.
Your new responsibilities
- Prescription Strategy: Define and drive the global prescription strategy to position Siemens SI Building solutions
as the reference of choice in project specifications during the design phase, covering Building Automation/BMS, HVAC &
Energy Management, Digital/IoT platforms, Fire Safety, and Security systems.
- Technical Specification Development: Create and maintain a global library of prescriptive technical documents,
master specifications, guide specifications, and bill-of-quantities templates aligned to each solution domain and
adapted to relevant international standards and norms (EN, ISO, and local codes).
- Architect & Engineering Firm Engagement: Build trusted, long-term relationships with leading architecture firms, MEP
engineering consultants, and design-build contractors at global and regional level. Deliver technical presentations,
workshops, and CPD sessions to position Siemens as a thought leader and preferred specification partner.
- Pre-Sales & Cross-functional Coordination: Act as technical reference for consulting engineers during early design
phases, supporting pre-sales teams on bid qualification and ensuring prescriptive positions translate into commercial
pipeline. Coordinate virtual teams of solution architects and designers across departments and geographies without
direct line authority.
- Portfolio Influence: Collect and synthesize insights from the design and engineering community to feed into the SI
Building portfolio roadmap, acting as the voice of the specifier internally and collaborating with Product Management
to translate product capabilities into specification-ready language.
- Governance & Best Practice: Define KPIs and tracking mechanisms to measure prescription impact. Establish and lead
an internal community of practice for specification across the global SI Building organisation, promoting knowledge
sharing and continuous improvement.
Your skills and experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related
technical discipline is required. A Master's degree or postgraduate qualification in Business or Project Management is
a plus.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience working within a consulting engineering, planning, or design firm (e.g., MEP
consultancy, building services engineering firm, or multidisciplinary design practice) is strongly preferred. This
background is key to understanding how specifications are written and how technology decisions are made during the
design phase of a project. Candidates who have transitioned from a consulting background into a vendor or pre-sales
role will also be considered.
- Proven track record of writing, reviewing, or influencing technical specifications for building systems across one
or more of the following domains: BMS/Building Automation, HVAC & Energy Management, Digital/IoT platforms, Fire
Safety, or Security systems.
- Deep technical knowledge across the SI Building solution portfolio and familiarity with relevant international
standards and communication protocols (e.g., BACnet, Modbus, KNX, DALI).
- Demonstrated ability to engage with architects, MEP engineers, and planning consultants in a technical advisory
capacity, earning trust and driving specification decisions without formal authority.
- Experience working in or with an international or global matrix organization, with the ability to coordinate
cross-functional teams across departments and regions.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to translate complex technical topics into
clear, compelling language for both engineering and business audiences.
- Proficiency in English is required. German, Italian, or additional European languages are a plus.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required (up to 30%).
- Start date upon agreement.
Location
This position is preferably based in Zug/Switzerland or Milan/Italy. A prerequisite is your legal eligibility to work
in the respective country. Relocation is not planned.
