At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and
trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers
the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, more than 80 000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter
mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.
As part of our Engineering Team, we are offering an internship opportunity as Eco-Design Engineer.
Your mission
- Integrate environmental aspects into the design of products and solutions across the entire lifecycle in order to
reduce impacts and improve performance, in alignment with the Eco‐design Policy (ALS‐POL‐004), the Alstom Management

- Prepare, maintain and present the Eco‐design Dashboard (ECO‐FRM‐005) at each Gate Review (TTG, LGR, SGR, IQR, VGR).
- Cascade environmental requirements into specifications (PRS/TRS) via REQ‐PRO‐001, and plan related studies and
actions.
- Perform Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) and environmental evaluations (ECO‐WMS‐005 / ECO‐WMS‐001), identify Significant
Environmental Aspects (SEA) and propose improvement action plans.
- Ensure compliance with product environmental requirements (ECO‐WMS‐002), including hazardous substances
(ECO‐WMS‐004) and customer restricted substance lists (ECO‐WMS‐003).
- Support tenders and projects: gap analysis versus references, definition of objectives, and update of environmental
performance in EDAM / MaDaM.
- Challenge design choices in collaboration with Engineering and Platforms (energy, materials, air quality,
end‐of‐life, circularity, noise, etc.).
Deliverables
- Eco‐design Dashboard and Eco‐design Management Plan
- LCA reports, carbon footprint assessments and environmental evaluations
- Calculation notes and performance evidence
- Updated TRS/PRS requirements and compliance documentation
Performance Indicators
- Eco‐design coverage (ECO‐WMS‐011)
- Energy savings of solutions (ECO‐WMS‐013)
- Recycled content rate (ECO‐WMS‐009)
