The Paul Scherrer Institute PSI is the largest research institute for natural and engineering sciences within

The Future Circular Collider Study (FCC) explores different designs of circular colliders for the post-LHC era.
Reaching higher energies and unprecedented luminosities would allow us to explore the fundamental laws of nature and
probe yet unexplained observations. PSI, as a member of CHART (Swiss Accelerator Research and Technology Center), is a
partner in this effort, focusing its R&D, among others, on superconducting magnet technology. For our young research
group for the development of High-Temperature Superconducting magnets we are looking for a
Designer for Superconducting Magnet Development 80-100%
Your tasks
- Mechanical CAD design and prototype construction of high temperature superconducting (HTS) magnets
- Leading and contributing to the manufacturing and assembly of the designed prototypes
- Process development and hands on contribution for the winding of superconducting coils
- Conventional machining (drilling, turning and milling) of simple parts
- Procurement of parts and raw materials
Your profile
- You have successfully passed vocational training as a designer (Konstrukteur*in) or a proven equivalent
education/experience
- You have excellent practical skills and are familiar with prototype development and construction
- You have experience with the procurement of parts
- You are motivated to learn intricate procedures in new disciplines
- You look forward to work in an international team and have good command in English
- German skills and experience in 3D printing (FFF) are a plus
