Intern in photoacoustic sensor signal processing for emission monitoring (80-100%)

Take your next career step at ABB with a global team that is energizing the transformation of society and industry to
achieve a more productive, sustainable future. At ABB, we have the clear goal of driving diversity and inclusion across
all dimensions: gender, LGBTQ+, abilities, ethnicity and generations. Together, we are embarking on a journey where
each and every one of us, individually and collectively, welcomes and celebrates individual differences.

ABB Corporate Research, in close collaboration with its different business areas, is developing the foundations for
the next generation of ABB products. From the Blue Sky Initiative in China to the IED and MCPD in Europe, the world is
heading for a cleaner air and industrial emissions are increasingly tight. At ABB, we enable this transition by
designing ever-more sensitive emission-monitoring instruments. During this internship, you will have an opportunity to
work on different aspects of a photoacoustic gas sensor. You will contribute to optimize the signal acquisition chain,
from the photoexcitation to the signal processing and the measurement of acoustic waves. Possible activities span from
electronic board design and digital signal processing all the way to machine learning.

    Your responsibilities

    - Get familiar with the current problems and the existing sensing modalities
    - Analyze the sources of measurement noise and propose innovative solutions
    - Contribute to the design, development, implementation, and validation of novel algorithms that increase the
    instrument sensitivity

    Your background

    - Master student in Electrical Engineering/Microengineering or related field
    - Official enrollment is essential
    - Solid understanding of one or more scientific fields: analog circuit design, machine learning, signal processing
    - Experience with Python/Matlab
    - Fluent command of English, both written and spoken
    - Availability for six months (start and end dates are open for discussion)

    Benefits

    - Canteen
    - Flexible work practices
    - Childcare
